UR Kids Volunteers

We have some of the coolest kids around. ...really, we aren’t biased! And we are always on the lookout for people who are interested in serving our kids and families. During the school year it takes a minimum of 75 volunteers to make UR Kids a reality. If you love working with kids and are looking for a way to deepen your faith, serve God, or give back to the Upper Room Community, UR Kids leadership is an amazing opportunity. We need you to do two important things:

1. Read the Leadership Team descriptions (described below) and pray about which team you would like to serve on.
2. Complete our three-part online application process that includes an application, background check, and submission of two references.

Volunteer Opportunities

2009-2010 School Year

September 13 through June 20
Mandatory Training: September 8 or September 10 (7:00-8:30pm)

Groupies Leaders
(1st-5th grade)

Mission: To develop loving and consistent relationships with kids as you model what it is to be a follower of Jesus

Tasks: Shepherd a small group of 6-8 kids along with a co-leader; Lead a lesson and facilitate experiences based on the current UR Series

time commitment	4:00pm - 6:30pm
people needed	16

Serving Dates:
September 13 - June 20 (every Sunday)

Tots Leaders
(3 years - Kindergarten)

Mission: To develop loving and consistent relationships with kids as you model what it is to be a follower of Jesus

Tasks: Spend time with a group of 3-5 year old kids and take part in leading a version of a lesson based on the current UR Series

time commitment	4:00pm - 6:30pm
people needed	16 adults; 6 Jr. leaders

Serving Dates:
September 13 - June 20 (2 weeks on; 2 weeks off)

Babes Leaders
(infants – 2/3 years)

Mission: To provide an opportunity for parents to experience the worship gathering, knowing their little ones are in a safe place

Tasks: Care for and nurture the littlest members of our community: holding, rocking, playing with them, and praying for them

time commitment	4:15pm - 6:30pm
people needed	20 adults; 2 Jr. leaders

Serving Dates:
September 13 - June 20 (2 weeks on; 2 weeks off)

Leaders for UR Kids with Special Needs

Mission: To provide an opportunity for kids with varying levels of need to participate in UR Kids each Sunday

Tasks: Spend time with kids as a one-to-one leader; Provide encouragement and support for participation in group settings; Adapt UR Kids activities, lessons, and experiences to nurture an environment that fully integrates kids with special needs

time commitment	4:00-6:30pm

Serving Dates:
September 13 - June 20 (2 weeks on; 2 weeks off)

Junior Leaders
(2 Babes; 6 Tots)

We have a limited number of spots on our Babes and Tots Leadership Teams for Junior Leaders. Junior Leaders are students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2009. In addition to the application process, Junior Leaders must also complete the Babysitter’s Training Course available through the American Red Cross.
