Upper Room as Missional Community

The Upper Room community seeks to be a movement of Kingdom bringers. We believe that mission is at the core of the Gospel, and as followers of Jesus we are called to reach out to the poor, the forgotten, and the least of this world. We desire to be a community which is engaged with the world and people who reflect love, mercy, and justice of Jesus.

Upper Room's missional life revolves primarily around ‘missional partnerships’. We are committed to developing long-term relationships with these missional partners and want all of our community to be connected with them through stories, trips, and opportunities to serve and give. Our missional partners are friends who teach us about the world and about the love of Jesus as we spend time with them, learn from them, and serve them.

Currently, Upper Room has partnerships with World Vision in El Salvador and HEAL Africa in Goma, Congo. We are also in the process of developing a local partnership here in Minneapolis.

Education

If we are to be Kingdom bringers, it is important that we educate ourselves about the world and about God's heart for the poor. As a community, we want to be informed and aware about issues of poverty and injustice. The Upper Room Missional Resources page has links to various organizations, articles and resources to help us understand how we can love and serve the poor and forgotten of the world.
